Art Direction, Front-end

Mevo is the first live event camera that is pocket-sized and easy to set up without the need of a large production crew. Its paired app allows you to live edit with a simple tap, pinch, or drag, to produce beautiful live footage that streams directly to major platforms. As a Designer & Front-end Developer, I worked in a nimble marketing team of three to develop all creative for the Mevo brand. My day-to-day required me to be very versatile. I produced digital and print materials such as ads, packaging, brochures to front-end development of our marketing website and ecommerce store.

Digital evolution of GetMevo.com

Before I had started working for Mevo, all branding and digital design was done by an agency in San Francisco called Character. Mevo had already launched for over a year when I joined the team. At this point, most of the copy and imagery on the site were outdated and didn't showcase the true value of the product. One of my first big projects was to refresh the homepage design.

Because of our small team and little resources, we had to get creative and scrappy with assets. Finding stock images to fit the use case of our product was tough and the only assets available were done by a freelance photographer in our office. I was able to photoshop them to the best of my abilities and utilize them for our new homepage. Overall, the refresh of copy and design told a story about Mevo and helped customers understand the product much more.

Launch of Mevo Plus

About six months after the homepage redesign, we were amping up for the launch of the second generation of the Mevo camera. This launch required a full site redesign, which I had the responsibility of owning. We hired a marketing agency called Stink Studios to help us with our new marketing video and photography. Our team worked closely with Stink to oversee the ideation and storyboarding of it all.

The biggest challenge of this project was the tight timeline. As the only design and engineering resource on our team, our aggressive timeline of less than two months made it hard to maintain the quality across all the designs. Within this time, I was responsible for the following:

  • Design/redesign five pages (homepage, feature pages, and Shopify storefront).
  • Review and iterate with leadership and different members of the team.
  • Develop and update ongoing changes to the new designs.
  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure the site was functioning properly across all platforms.
